A CONSTELLATION ALBUM by P. K. Chen cover and interior design, art direction, diagram creation, production P. K. Chen is a taiwanese amateur astrophotographer and world-travelling gad-about. this book of his constellation photography includes observing tips and stories from the Greek mythology for each figure, and is liberally spiced with Chinese lore. A spiral-bound transparent overlay fits over each star field photo to illustrate both the constellation's representative stars as well as an artist's representation of the object. I immediately proposed finding an artist skilled at cut paper, a traditional Chinese folk art. in doing extensive research, I discovered Patrick Gannon, an American artist living in Tokyo, who was perfect for the job. I organized the book with seasonal images of nature, and utilized a traditional Chinese color palette. © 2007 NEW TRACK MEDIA |
